Why use a managed service for your recruitment?

What are the options for recruitment management?

While few organisations use a 'pure' version of these recruitment management options, the following table provides an overview of those available.

Recruitment Management Model Description Pros Cons Mainly used by...
Sole Supplier - A single recruitment agency used to fulfil all requirements - Easy to contact and manage
- Can negotiate keener rates
- May not be able to fulfil all requirements ...organisations with relatively low staffing requirements
Preferred Supplier List
(PSL)
- A number of pre-approved recruitment agencies used to fulfil all requirements - More likely to fulfil requirements
- More time-consuming to contact and manage
- Can be more expensive than sole supplier rates ...organisations that require temporary staff with varied skills and are content with current efficiency and process control
Master Vendor
(MV)
- One main recruitment agency used, with support agencies used where the main agency cannot fill the requirement - More likely to fulfil requirements
- May only have to use one point of contact for majority of time
- Can take longer to recruit due to lag time when MV cannot fulfil the order ...organisations that require high volumes of a few disciplines of temporary staff; most can be supplied by one agency
(Vendor Neutral) Managed Service Provider
(VN)MSP
- A single point of contact which liases with a panel of pre-agreed agencies on a PSL or MV basis - Most likely to fulfil requirements
- High level of control as single point of contact
- Longer implementation time required ...organisations with large, complex temporary staffing needs, who wish to increase efficiency and process control

What is a managed service?

A managed service provider handles all stages of the administration of volume recruitment on your behalf, leaving you free to focus on your core projects.

Agreements can be put in place whatever your requirements - from large volume clerical and industrial temporary staff, to executive and managerial positions, and specialist permanent, contract and temporary posts such as social care.

The managed service provider offers a single point of contact for your company's recruitment needs - so your staff do not have to contact a number of agencies to fill vacancies - and also can handle the management of supply agency relationships, best practice implementation, auditing, invoice consolidation and MI provision.

The supply agency arrangement beneath this neutral 'managed service' layer can take many different formats, depending on your specific requirements. For example, this may mean you have sole suppliers for specific disciplines, or a neutral vendor arrangement across the board with many supply agencies.

Why use a managed service?

By appointing a managed service provider to manage your temporary staff supply chain, you can:

  • reduce actual costs and improve efficiency, due to the purchasing power of increased economies of scale
  • reduce administration costs with a streamlined invoicing process, and potentially just one invoice a month
  • integrate the recruitment IT system with your e-procurement system
  • increase process control due to improved and consistent management information
  • improve service levels by setting up a common SLA with all suppliers, if required
  • reduce risk, as vetting and referencing becomes an auditable and standardised process
  • mitigate the risk of not filling even the more difficult vacancies
  • find the right people for the posts, by co-ordinating your search across the most relevant agencies
  • continue to support local suppliers, while making the most of your purchasing power

What are the Reed Managed Services pricing options?

Reed Managed Services offers a number of pricing models - fixed, transactional and gain-share - depending on the scale and level of service you require. Our modular service is tailored to your organisation's specific requirements, and pricing is developed accordingly. This means you get the level of service you need, without paying for functions that you would not use.

Our fixed and transactional models are best suited to organisations with lower staff recruitment levels, and offer a range of competitive fixed management fees and/or transactional costs.

With our gain-share model, the managed service is funded by a percentage of the savings you will gain as a result of the more cost efficient process. This is of particular benefit to organisations that have a temporary staff expenditure of over 1 million.
